Meet Jackie!
Hello, and welcome to your first few steps towards change! My passion for counseling comes from my own healing journey and the transformation I experienced through therapy. I believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive space to explore their story, better understand themselves and their relationships, and move toward meaningful change.
Growing up in a family where mental health wasn't openly discussed showed me how culture can shape the way we view emotional well-being. Many of us carry past hurts that continue to influence our lives and relationships, but those experiences do not define who we are. Healing can help us move forward with greater freedom, self-understanding, and hope.
Therapist: I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M University (whoop!) and my Masters of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University–Commerce. I am EMDR trained to help with any trauma or to help alleviate feeling stuck in patterns. I am Level 1 Gottman trained and utilize the Gottman method for couples to increase emotional awareness and affection. Through both my education and clinical experience, I've helped individuals recognize unhelpful patterns, build new skills, and create lasting change.
Person: Outside the therapy room, I'm a wife to a husband who works in public education so I have a passion for working with teachers. I enjoy watching reality tv and dramas, caring for my physical health, and exploring coffee shops!
Our Story, Our Passion
About Tether Point Therapy
Our core belief: every person is inherently worthy of being seen, heard, and understood with compassion and respect. Healing begins when we have a tether point, a place where we feel grounded, connected, and supported as we navigate our inner world. You’ll have a safe, supportive space where you pursue healing, growth, and deeper connection. Through my training and experience, I've worked with clients who arrived feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or unseen, yet each carried a story worthy of care, understanding, and dignity.
My goal is to create an environment where you feel genuinely accepted while being gently challenged toward meaningful change. With empathy and curiosity, I'll meet you where you are and support you as you explore your past, understand your patterns, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that need care.
Therapy is more than creating change, it's a place where your story matters, your voice is heard, and lasting transformation becomes possible.
